The Staff

Mrs Laura Mead

Headteacher & SENCo, Designated Safeguarding Lead

head@trekenner.net

As well as being the Headteacher I teach in Explorers Class in the afternoons.

My teaching background has been almost exclusively in small schools and with mixed age classes so I have a wide experience in dealing with the issues that are peculiar to these. I feel strongly about the benefits of small schools and how they allow us to focus on the needs of all our pupils and their families. I am also passionate about promoting the aspirations and life-chances of our children and want to make sure that they have lots of opportunities to explore their community locally and in Cornwall, the rest of the UK and Globally.

Outside of teaching and schools, I have 3 children. I enjoy spending time supporting their interests in music, dance and rugby and also looking after our 2 spaniels. I enjoy cooking for friends and family and also love to eat out. I love reading and have always got a book on the go and when I have time I love to relax in front of the TV with a good box set or movie. I love all types of music and go to concerts and the theatre as often as I can. I also love to sing myself, especially in the car!

I am very excited to bring these skills to Trekenner and help to enrich music within the school.
