History at Trekenner
At Trekenner, our aim is to inspire pupils to develop a deep curiosity about the past and a strong understanding of how history shapes the world we live in today. Our history curriculum encourages children to think critically, ask thoughtful questions, and explore the complexity of human experience across time.
We aim to ensure that all pupils:
- Develop a secure understanding of chronology, historical concepts, and key events in British, local, and world history.
- Learn to interpret and evaluate a range of historical sources and evidence.
- Understand the diversity of societies and the relationships between different groups throughout history.
- Make meaningful connections between past and present, recognising how history influences modern life.
- Explore local history, including Cornwall’s rich heritage, to foster a strong sense of identity and place.
- Engage in historical enquiry through storytelling, artefacts, visits, and hands-on experiences that bring the past to life.
Through inclusive, engaging, and enquiry-led learning, we encourage every child at Trekenner to become a thoughtful, reflective historian who values the past and its relevance to their future.
