MEET MABEL
Mabel, our school dog, is a Cockapoo. That's a cross between a Cocker Spaniel and a poodle (miniature in Mabel's case). She was born on October 15th 2022. Cockapoo's are known for their friendly nature and for being good with children. Because of the poodle in their breeding their coats are often non shedding and better for those with allergies to dogs.
Her base is in the school office with Mrs Hancock but she also visits the rest of the school regularly. She is always supervised and children will never have to interact with her if they don't want to. Her role is that of a Welfare Dog, and we believe that her presence here is beneficial for the children and staff. She's very good at knowing when a child is upset and naturally moves close to them to provide comfort. If a child is reluctant to come through the gates, she can be taken out to greet them and walk them to their classroom. Her favourite activity is being taken for a walk around the field if a child needs a break away from the classroom.
