Learning Outdoors

Learning Outdoors at Trekenner

At Trekenner, we believe that the outdoors is a powerful and inspiring learning environment that supports the development of the whole child. Our intent is to embed outdoor learning as a core part of our curriculum, enriching pupils’ educational experiences and promoting wellbeing, curiosity, and a connection with the natural world.

We are committed to ensuring that:

  • All pupils go outside every day, whatever the weather, to engage in active play, exploration, and learning.
  • Every child takes part in at least one dedicated outdoor learning session each week, where the curriculum is brought to life through hands-on, experiential activities.
  • We make full use of our amazing outdoor space, including natural areas, gardens, and open fields, to support learning across subjects such as science, geography, art, and literacy.
  • Outdoor learning fosters resilience, teamwork, creativity, and environmental awareness, helping children to develop essential life skills in a real-world context.

Through our commitment to outdoor learning, we aim to cultivate confident, healthy, and engaged learners who are deeply connected to their environment and inspired to explore the world around them.
