Autumn Term 2024

Welcome to Owls Class!

We are Year 5 and 6. Every morning we do Early Morning Tasks to get our brains warmed up for the day and we have the opportunity to read our books or quiz on our Accelerated Reader books. After that we dive into our English lesson. Our first book this term is 'Children of the Benin Kingdom' by Dinah Orji and we will be writing diary entries, letters, survival instructions and a non-chronological report. We are also trying extremely hard with our presentation - practising our handwriting and spelling everyday and learning how to edit and improve our own work. We love reading as a class and discussing exciting new vocabulary and the rules of English grammar!

After break time, we do maths, following the White Rose Maths scheme of work - this term is Place Value, The Four Operations (add, subtract, multiply and divide) and Fractions.

After lunch and - weather permitting - a good run around outside, we join with Year 4 and study our other subjects as Pioneers Class.
As the Cornish weather is unpredictable, please could all children bring a coat to school and make sure they have a jumper with them. ☔⛈️
